How does live tracking work?

When you start a journey, your position is shared via iCloud. Your emergency contacts receive an SMS with a link to follow your journey in real-time on a map.

Does the app work without internet?

GPS tracking works offline, but live sharing with contacts requires an internet connection. Your journey is saved locally and synced when you're back online.

How much battery does the app use?

The app uses GPS in the background during active journeys, which does consume battery. We recommend starting your journey with a full charge or keeping a charger available.

What data do you collect?

Your location data is only collected during active journeys and stored in your personal iCloud account. Phone numbers of emergency contacts are stored locally on your device. We do not track you or share your data with third parties.

Do my contacts need the app to follow my journey?

Yes, your contacts need to install Track My Boat Journey to view your live position on the map. They receive an SMS with a link that opens the app directly.
